Global ship operator COSCO Shipping, which operates more than 1,000 vessels globally, has selected Lubmarine as its lubricant partner to supply its eight brand new bulk carriers over the next 3 years.

Lubmarine beat off competition to be awarded the 3-year contract to supply a range of lubrication services for COSCO Shipping’s eight new 210,000 DWT vessels – the first three of which are due to go into service by the end of Q4 2020.  Being built in 4 different Chinese shipyards, four of the vessels will operate WinGD engines and four will be powered with MAN ES engines.

In addition to supplying lubricants to all eight vessels over the next 3 years, Lubmarine will also be providing COSCO Shipping with a range of technical support services during the lifetime of the contract.

“We are delighted to have been awarded this contract to supply COSCO Shipping’s new fleet of Bulk Carriers, further strengthening our long term partnership and really positive working relationship, “ said Andrew Knox, Asia Pacific General Manager, Lubmarine. “COSCO Shipping has highlighted the benefits of our proactive approach to customer service, our lubrication and technical support services including our TECH’CARE, Diagomar Plus Laboratories, Drain Oil Analysis Services and Marine Lubrication Engineer teams as a key driver to securing this new contract and we are delighted they value our customer-focused approach,” added Knox.

It is anticipated that all eight new vessels will be operational by the end of Q1, 2021.
