LNG

LNG stands for Liquefied Natural Gas, a natural gas that has been cooled down to -163°C (-260°F) to liquid form, reducing its volume by about 600 times compared to its gaseous state. This liquefaction process makes LNG easier and safer to transport and store.

LNG as a Marine Fuel: According to recent studies, LNG remains a leading option for marine fuel due to its significant environmental benefits. LNG generates almost zero sulfur and particulate emissions and can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 23% on a Well-to-Wake (WtW) basis compared to conventional oil-based marine fuels. Additionally, advancements in LNG infrastructure and technology are making it a practical and realistic pathway towards decarbonizing the maritime industry.
