Dispersant

An additive that keeps insoluble contaminants dispersed (colloidally suspended) in a lubricant, preventing the particles from settling and accumulating.
A dispersant keeps the insoluble materials conglomerated together to be removed by the filter during circulation.
Dispersants help prevent the buildup of sludge, varnish and other deposits.
