Aurelia Fuel Economy
Aurelia FE is Lubmarine’s advanced fuel-economy lubricant for four-stroke marine engines. Its unique formulation helps reduce fuel consumption, operating costs, and associated CO2 emissions**—without engine modifications or vessel downtime.
Laboratory testing measured a 1.5% weighted average fuel savings*. Supported by more than 100,000 hours of field experience, Aurelia FE turns lubrication into a practical and measurable vessel-efficiency lever.
Fuel Economy Starts with the Right Lubricant
Fuel is one of the largest operating expenses for shipowners and operators. At the same time, fuel-price volatility and increasing emissions requirements are making vessel efficiency more important than ever.
Aurelia FE provides a practical way to improve efficiency through the lubricant already used to protect the engine. As a ready-to-use drop-in solution, it enables operators to pursue fuel-cost and CO2 emissions** reduction while maintaining operational continuity.
Designed for Different Vessel Applications
From ferries to cruise ships and offshore vessels, Aurelia FE helps improve fuel efficiency across eligible four-stroke marine engine applications without disrupting operations.
Regular routes and repeatable operating profiles allow ferry operators to establish a reliable fuel-consumption baseline and measure savings quickly. Aurelia FE can improve efficiency without disrupting schedules or the passenger experience.
Optimizing Ferry Operations
On vessels with two-stroke main engines like container vessels, Aurelia FE can help improve the efficiency of eligible four-stroke auxiliary engines used for onboard power generation.
Improving Auxiliary Engine Efficiency
Aurelia FE can support propulsion and power-generation applications operating under demanding and variable loads. Lubmarine can identify the eligible engines offering the greatest savings potential for your Offshore assets.
Maximizing Offshore Performance
Cruise Ships: Reduce Fleet Fuel Consumption
Cruise ships use four-stroke engines for propulsion and power generation. Applying Aurelia FE across eligible engines can maximize potential fleet-level savings while supporting environmental performance objectives.
1.5% Average Fuel Savings*
Aurelia FE is the result of extensive R&D and unique lubricant chemistry, developed to combine lasting fuel-economy benefits with the engine protection and reliability operators expect.
Aurelia FE can be introduced without engine modifications or a dedicated vessel stop***. Lubmarine can help assess your engines, select the appropriate grade, and define a controlled changeover and monitoring plan.
Developed through extensive R&D work, Aurelia FE combines carefully selected base oils and additives to provide lasting fuel-economy benefits with reliable engine protection. Its performance is supported by laboratory testing and more than 100,000 hours of field service experience.
Aurelia FE achieved a 1.5%* weighted average fuel savings during bench tests based on the standardized MARPOL E3 cycle, vs a standard reference lubricant. The measurement methodology was validated by Bureau Veritas. Actual savings may vary according to engine load, operating conditions, and the lubricant currently in use.

Select the right Aurelia FE grade
Aurelia FE is an SAE 40 trunk piston engine oil range for eligible four-stroke marine engines and power-generation applications.
- Aurelia FE 4020 — BN 20: for medium speed diesel engines running on MGO or for dual fuel engines.
- Aurelia FE 4030 — BN 30: for medium speed engines operating on VLSFO.
- Aurelia FE 4040 — BN 40: for medium speed engines operating on HSFO.
Final product selection should consider the engine model, OEM requirements, fuel characteristics, and operating conditions.

FAQ
Lubmarine can prepare a tailored estimate based on a number of parameters including engine configuration, annual running hours, engine load, fuel consumption, fuel price, current lubricant, and operating profile.
Aurelia FE is designed as a drop-in lubricant solution, so engine modifications are not required. The transition should nevertheless be planned with Lubmarine to confirm product suitability, grade selection, changeover procedure, and monitoring.
Lubmarine will review the engine model, fuel type, OEM requirements, current lubricant, oil-analysis history, operating profile, and product availability before recommending the appropriate Aurelia FE grade and changeover plan.
Aurelia FE is fully approved for use in MaK engines. Approvals for other OEMs are currently in progress.
The figure is a weighted average of fuel savings measured at different engine loads according to the standardized MARPOL E3 test cycle on an engine bench test, by using Aurelia FE vs an equivalent reference lubricant. The measurement methodology was validated by Bureau Veritas.
Actual onboard results may vary according to the engine model, design, operating profile, operating conditions, and lubricant currently in use.
Whilst most commonly available engine oils are miscible with Aurelia FE, we recommend a complete lubricant changeover in order to maximize the fuel saving benefits of Aurelia FE.
The changeover procedure depends on the current lubricant, engine condition, sump volume, operating conditions, and onboard inventory. Lubmarine should assess each application and recommend the appropriate transition procedure. Contact your Lubmarine Marine Lubrication Engineer for support.
Aurelia FE is designed for eligible four-stroke marine engines and power-generation applications. The range covers BN 20, BN 30, and BN 40 grades for engines operating on MGO, VLSFO, or HSFO.
Both Aurelia FE and Aurelia TI are trunk piston engine oils intended for four-stroke marine and stationary power-generation applications.
The established Aurelia TI range is primarily positioned around engine protection and operational reliability: engine cleanliness through detergency and dispersancy, viscosity stability, resistance to contamination, thermal and oxidation resistance, water separation, wear protection, and oil-film strength.
Aurelia FE is a specialty engine lubricant developed by the R&D team at TotalEnergies for the purpose of reducing fuel consumption in medium speed engines. Its unique formulation reduces friction within the engine while maintaining engine protection and reliability.
