Total Lubmarine has been selected to provide CAPRANO TDI 15W40 to the U.S. Coast Guard’s (USCG) Sentinel Class Fast Response Cutters (FRCs), a specialised lubricant that will protect their main engines and reduction gears in an array of operational conditions.
In May of 2017, Bollinger Shipyard of Lockport, Louisiana was contracted to build 26x new FRCs for the USCG, bolstering its ability to effectively respond to incidents. With a flank speed of 28 knots, state of the art command, control, communications and computer technology, and a stern launch system for the vessel’s 26 foot cutter boat – these vessels have already evolved USCG’s response capabilities. On 8 February 2018, the 27th FRC was delivered, and the USCGC RICHARD SNYDER will be commissioned during April 2018 in Atlantic Beach, NC.
CAPRANO TDI 15W40 guarantees effective engine lubrication in severe conditions
With cutters required to operate in areas around Florida, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Cape May, New Jersey, Ketchikan, Alaska and Pascagoula, MS and Honolulu – effective and flexible lubrication is vital. CAPRANO TDI 15W40’s excellent viscosity delivers this stability and reliability, guaranteeing effective lubrication in severe conditions. And, with outstanding detergent, dispersant and anti-wear properties, it is the perfect partner to ensure engine cleanliness and durability.
Primarily, each vessel will receive an initial fill of around 3000 litres, and then be refilled with 3000 litres after the successful completion of sea trials. Speaking of the contract, Marie Braouezec, Total Lubmarine’s General Manager Americas said:
“We are very proud to be in a position to support the extraordinary work of the U.S. Coast Guard, and we are confident that CAPRANO TDI 15W40 will deliver an effective lubrication solution that will help the USCG continue to protect the country’s safety and security.”
