Stuart Fuller, a marine engineer from the Lubmarine UK office recently carried out a useful ship visit with administration co-ordinator Catherine P. The visit took place on-board the Carisbrooke Shipping vessel Heleen C at the Tate & Lyle sugar refinery on the river Thames in London.

Having recently joined Lubmarine from Total’s UK head office, Catherine hadn’t previously been exposed to a shipping environment. The aim of the visit was to increase Catherine’s awareness of shipping, the equipment and machinery used on-board, the products in the Lubmarine portfolio and to give practical examples of where they can be used on an ocean-going vessel.

During the visit the Lubmarine team toured the vessel looking at all aspects of the vessel’s equipment, and carried out a Scavenge Port Inspection of the vessel’s MAN B&W 7S35MC main engine. The team assisted the vessel superintendent with some useful information, looking at lubricant properties and demonstrating how DiagomarPlus reports can be interpreted to give valuable diagnostic data.

Opportunities such as these provide an excellent training platform for staff who are normally office-based, giving them real insight into the industry. This insight and experience enables them to provide value-added service to Total Lubmarine customers and enhances ongoing client relationships.
