So we are delighted to extend this level of technical support with the opening of our new Diagomar Plus Laboratory in Chicago. This latest lab opening means we have increased our network of laboratory services to 5 centers around the world – with Chicago joining Ertvelde (Belgium), Singapore, Shanghai, and Panama City.
The opening of the new lab ensures we have a dedicated technical center for both North and South America. It also meets the growing demand for our products and services within the US shipping markets.
Through our highly experienced team in the Chicago Lab we can provide rapid and accurate lubricating oil analysis services for monitoring the performance and condition of marine engines and auxiliary machinery – helping ship owners proactively prevent unnecessary damage before it happens.
The range of services available through our new Chicago Lab include:
Standard analyses for Engine Oil, Non-engine Oil, Drain Oil, Thermal Oil, Stern tube Oil, EAL (Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant), mainly:
- Viscosity
- Water content
- Insoluble
- BN (Base Number)
- TAN (Total Acid Number)
- Flashpoint
- Particle Quantifier
- Spectro Analysis
Specific analyses include:
- Particle count
- Grease analysis (ICP + water)
- Polyglycol oil sample
- Bacterial count - MicrobMon2
- Exact Flash Point
Once samples taken from the vessel are sent to the Lab they are analysed by the team (depending on the service required). Upon completion the oil analysis is then reviewed by the customer’s Marine Lubricant Engineer before being published to the customer with recommendations based on the analysis review. They are also made available online to our customer through our digital Diagomar Plus platform. By providing the combination of specialist testing and effective results interpretation, we offer the technical insight to help ship owners and crews decide the best courses of action. Thereafter, the Marine Lubricant Engineer remains available to assist and advise on any necessary course of action.
