The partnership will see Total Angola collaborate with Bourbon and Sonasurf’s Angolan joint venture to commence a smart shipping program.
The initial agreement is for three years and will see smart technology deployed on five innovative supply vessels from the Bourbon Explorer 500 series Dynamic Positioning two (DP2) equipped Platform Support Vessels (PSV), operating on blocks 17 and 32 off the Angolan coast.
Speaking on the announcement, Ivelino Do Nascimento, Operations Manager, Sonasurf said:
“This new mode of vessel operation enables us to meet the challenge of controlling costs in the current time of recovering activity. We are very happy to have been able to move forward in a collaborative mode with TOTAL on this deployment project in Angola."
The smart shipping program is in line with Total's ambition to deploy innovative solutions that enable more sustainable shipping.
Some of the notable innovations and optimizations deployed on the five vessels under contract with Total are the digitalization of administrative work and the deployment of a predictive maintenance system for the main equipment on board. The latter reduces vessel downtime by anticipating incidents on equipment, minimizing the impact on customer operations.
“The deployment of the program at Total prefigures a new way of sustainable cooperation and optimized services delivery to our customers with fewer resources,” adds Victor Chevallier, CEO of Bourbon Marine & Logistics.
