Day of the Seafarer 2024

June 25th marks the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) annual Day of the Seafarer with this year’s campaign looking at seafarers' contributions to making the maritime sector a safer place to work.

Day of the Seafarer’s purpose is to recognize the unique contribution made by seafarers from all over the world to international seaborne trade, the world economy and civil society as a whole. To find out more about this year's campaign, visit https://www.imo.org/en/About/Events/Pages/Day-of-the-Seafarer-2024.aspx

Safety is a fundamental aspect of our maritime operations here at Lubmarine which has also seen us support a range of international seafarer organizations, including maritime charity ISWAN (International Seafarers’ Welfare Assistance Network).

ISWAN works to promote and support the welfare of seafarers all over the world. As well as operating a 24-hour seafarers helpline, it also runs a number of projects and campaigns looking at key issues including safety, mental health and wellbeing.

In a forthcoming Seafarers’ Safety Matters campaign, ISWAN will be putting a spotlight on the importance of making women seafarers safer at work.
