An SNSM rescue boat is operating at sea with its rescue team on the deck

Renewed collaboration is underway for a further five years with the recent signing of a new €9 million philanthropy agreement between the French search and rescue organization SNSM (Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer) and TotalEnergies’s corporate foundation. The collaboration first began 13 years ago, and has significantly contributed to the safety of volunteer sea rescuers and to sea users.

With this agreement, TotalEnergies’s French corporate foundation and SNSM are extending their commitment to the safety of responders, while bringing fresh momentum to marine conservation efforts, particularly through joint awareness initiatives.

Emmanuel de Oliveira, President of SNSM says, “This partnership highlights and acknowledges the renewed trust between TotalEnergies and SNSM, both of which are committed to improving safety. As a longstanding partner and SNSM’s main patron, TotalEnergies’s corporate foundation helps train and equip our people so they can carry out their rescue missions under optimum safety conditions.”

Over the next five years, this initiative will concentrate on three areas of collaboration:

  • Continued support for training.
  • Provision of protective equipment for responders, including new-generation dry suits.
  • A program to raise awareness on protecting marine and coastal ecosystems.

We are delighted to share this news as part of the 2021 World Humanitarian Day which is raising awareness on the world’s most vulnerable people.
