Total Lubmarine - Working with customers is key - IMO 2020

Speaking with Lloyd’s List’s Vincent Wee in Hong Kong last month, Lubmarine Technical Director, Jean-Philippe Roman discussed the importance of working closely with customers during the IMO 2020 transition period. Marine Fuels Managing Director, Jérôme Leprince-Ringuet further discussed fuel switchover strategy.

Mr. Roman said:

“The global challenge, both logistical and technical, during the transition period will necessitate a close relationship between customers and ourselves to ensure that we can meet their demands as optimally as possible. Our ambition from the forum that we are holding here in Hong Kong and the others around the world is to discuss preparation and closer engine monitoring.”

Jérôme Leprince-Ringuet urged customers to avoid the October fuel switchover rush, encouraging them to start discussions now. Mr. Leprince-Ringuet advised that doing so would ensure operators had more time to make the right decisions, optimizing their strategy and ultimately improving their bottom line.

“If you have a big fleet we have to make sure that we have all the products you need when and where you need them,” he said.

Mr. Roman and Mr. Leprince-Ringuet were speaking as the Total Global Sulfur Cap Forums reached the Asia leg of the tour. In Hong Kong, approximately 100 people attended from across the industry to better understand the upcoming regulation and the solutions Total are delivering to ensure compliance.
